Does/has this happened to anyone?
This past weekend, a few friends and I were making a practice run in UW. Several minutes in, I and one other team member were disconnected. I could not reconnect. Then I noticed my router had dropped connection. I did a reset on the router and logged back on only to be disconnected again, after a few minutes. Later Saturday evening, I logged on to a pre sear character. Was able to farm Nick's items and collect gifts. So I decided to try the character that I went into UW with. When I got logged on to her, I moved her to Eye outpost. Roughly 5 minutes later, lost internet connection. Did a reset on router and logged back on, moved her to Ascalon City, then my Guild Hall. Added 90 minutes to drunk with no connection loss. Sunday, after the computer was shut down for 12 hours, logged on to secondary account, with character in Eye. In a matter of a few moments, lost internet connection. Finally got the character to Lion's Arch. After move, no further connection loss.
I have not had my internet disconnect like this since getting DSL three years ago. Is it a coincidence that I am losing the internet connection at the router, or can it be an issue with GW? I can do everything else, email, forums, wiki, etc, with no loss. I only lose the internet when in EotN or UW. Any input is appreciated. Last edited by Perkunas; Jan 24, 2011 at 06:41 PM // 18:41.. I have less then perfect connections at the best of times (wireless laptop), but last night I had so much trouble moving around it was just down right annoying. Was trying to zone to Temple for a spur of the moment FoW run with guildies and d/c 4 times trying to move there from Guildhall. Internet was fine though.
My other half had a similar problem to you where he could not connect to proph/eotn on any of his characters, but other campaigns were fine. For me I reseted the router and left the laptop off for a few hours then came back. Works fine now as done his. I'm not sure if I read that right but did you reset your router/internet connection as well as Gw/computer? |

afaik running game software(gw) cant make your router "reset".
try removing your router. plug in straight to your modem. if u dont have the problem anymore, its your router. or borrow a router from a friend try that one. there are obvious things to try. you probably know this. if you try these things and get no conclusive results. go to the tech support forum here on guru and ask about ping plotter and belarc advisor. this is software to help determine if you have packet loss or connection problems. ** guild wars streams information. your web surfing can work fine while gw has problems that make it disconnect. My router gave me that problem about a year or 2 ago.
Still don't really know what the problem was at the time but ended up using a direct modem link for playing GW. Still direct link if I play online games though |
